Talk pages are used for discussion. Talk pages can be used for discussion about the wiki, general discussion, discussion about articles, etc.

Modifying a Talk Page

Type in the desired text, then be sure to sign your signature using 4 tidles (~~~~). This will automatically add a signature for you. We ask that you do not write over, add to, or delete anyone else's comments. Doing those could result in a warning. After doing this, subsequent messages should add a : to the beginning of the message. This indents it. Further messages should add one more. So,

Comment.
:Response.
::Response.

will generate the following:

Comment.

Response.
Response.

Although this is not necessary, it is highly recommended, as it helps distinguish where one comment ends and another beings.

Talk Pages

Talk pages are discussion pages for articles, templates, categories, etc. These are used to point out errors, changes to the page that you would like to see made, etc. These talk pages are not for discussion about the subject, and they are not for chatting in general.

  • "I think that this article should be marked as a stub." is an acceptable topic for a talk page.
  • "I hate the Eggplant Wizard!" is not an acceptable topic for a talk page, it is more suited for a forum, chat, and possibly a user talk page, as long as the conversation does not get too long.

User Talk Pages

User talk pages are used to communicate with another user, they are usually used for discussion about the wiki. They function much like any other talk page - if someone contacts you, it's generally best to keep the conversation on the same talk page, instead of cross-posting between multiple talk pages. This keeps everything nice and organized.
