Affiliation(s): Underworld Army
Enemy Type: Grounded

The Tempura Wizard (天ぷら使い Tempura Tsukai) is a brand new foe introduced in Kid Icarus: Uprising. It has some similar characteristics to the infamous Eggplant Wizard, as this deep-fried fiend is capable of turning Pit's upper body into a shrimp tempura by throwing flour-filled projectiles. However, unlike the Eggplant Wizard, the Tempura Wizard will start to frantically chase the angel once he has been transformed in an attempt to devour him, using its single eye that can close to reveal a toothy mouth and tongue. Once Pit is caught, it is game over for him.

Characteristics

A Tempura Wizard in-game.

The Tempura Wizard appears to be a dark-skinned humanoid creature with a shrimp tempura for a head and a single eye (that transforms into a mouth). It also wears clothing that appears to be encrusted with fried tempura batter along with a purple robe. This fiend sits on a levitating bowl of rice and wields a staff as it patiently waits for its next victim.

In Kid Icarus: Uprising

Tempura Wizards are one of the rarest enemies in the game, with only three appearing during the entire adventure. One is first encountered during the latter half of Medusa's Final Battle, while the second appears in a large cavern during The Wish Seed, and finally in the windy area in Palutena's Temple. Unlike its eggplant-inspired cousin, the Tempura Wizard is one of two enemies that can cause instant death, the other being the ghostly Orne.

Idol Description

An enemy even more fearsome than the Eggplant Wizard. Once sprinkled with its flour, targets are transformed into shrimp tempura. And if you're cursed, look out: the Tempura Wizard can turn you into dinner with a one-bite kill.
