Zeus (神様 Kami-sama) is a god whose role in Pit's quest is to prepare him for the trials ahead. As such, he can be encountered in the Sacred Training Chamber, flinging Monoliths and handing out weapons, or waiting patiently in the Sacred Chamber to grant an Arrow of Strength.
Appearances
Kid Icarus
He's merely referred to as "a friendly god" here and will train Pit in the Sacred Training Chambers. If he passes, Pit will get to choose either the Sacred Bow, the Fire Arrow, or the Protective Crystal. However, Zeus will insult Pit as being a "weakling" if he flees.
Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters
Zeus is now referred to by his proper name but otherwise fulfills the same role. If Pit leaves his training before it is over this time around, Zeus will simply say, "You must try harder Pit."
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Zeus does not appear in this game, nor is his name ever brought up; however, the Idol description for the Thunder Cloud Temple mentions the existence of a thunder god.
Trivia
- Zeus is, of course, named after the father-figure God of the Greek Pantheon. He's much less lecherous here, and he's not nearly so much a central figure here as he is in mythology.
- This is likely due to that he is not actually based on Zeus as his Japanese name proves, his true name is Kami-sama, which translates to as "Lord God". Meaning he is possibly just a generic god.
- Dyntos, a god in Kid Icarus: Uprising has a similar role and appearance to Zeus, and it is possible that Dyntos is based or is a new take on the character or that they are one and the same.
- Despite not being an angel, Zeus is shown with a halo and a pair of wings in the official art from Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters.
- It is often questioned why Zeus does not save Palutena and Angel Land with his mighty powers instead of having Pit do it. Although this could be due to not wanting to interfere too much in the affairs of mortals and lesser gods.
