Phosphora, known in Japan as Ereka (エレカ Ereka), is a new character introduced in Kid Icarus: Uprising. She is a beautiful yet powerful warrior that specializes in electricity-based attacks and can move as fast as lightning. Phosphora is one of Viridi's top commanders due to her incredible power and speed, which allows her to create massive storms and tornadoes. However, she can also tire very fast and often needs to recharge after an intense battle.

Characteristics

Appearance

Phosphora is a young commander of Viridi's army with blond crescent-shaped hair with red-colored tips, and purple eyes. She wears rather revealing clothing which consists of a pair of white shorts and a small black top covered with two white sashes. She also wears purple boots and arm covers which are covered in black bandages and she has a vine plant around her leg which goes up her shorts and around her body and ends at her arms which give them the appearance of bracelets.

Personality

She behaves much like how she looks, having many characteristics of a stuck-up teenage girl. She can be quite rude to her opponents, often pointing out their flaws and mocking them for it, such as Pit's height and Palutena's age. She can also be quite lazy, often passing off comments or events that don't concern her and handling almost everything with a nonchalant attitude. She also has somewhat flirtatious nature, having flirted with Pit on several occasions. Despite these odd quirks, she is a fierce fighter and shows great ferocity in battle.

Abilities

Phosphora is a very fast opponent who can zip around her battlefield in seconds. Slow weapons such as some clubs and bows are tricky to use against her due to the fact that she can easily dodge their fire. As Palutena states, Phosphora uses very powerful melee attacks and, therefore, should be kept away from.

In Kid Icarus: Uprising

In Chapter 14, she defeats Thanatos, the commander of Hades' army, and retreats to an abandoned refuge base called the Thunder Cloud Temple to rest. However Pit breaks through the temples' defenses and defeats her in the boss battle of the chapter. Later in Palutena's Temple, she retrieves the Lightning Chariot when the rider (Pit and then later Dark Pit) falls off from it. It is never stated how she or Dark Pit retrieves the Lightning Chariot or where she goes after Chapter 20.

Idol Description

"A beautiful and powerful electricity-based warrior in the Forces of Nature. While victorious in her battle with Thanatos, the wounds Phosphora receives make her weak in the fight with Pit that follows."

Trivia

  • Phosphora is named after a chemical element called phosphorus, which comes from a Greek word meaning "bearer of light" which suits Phosphora's association with lightning.
  • Judging from Phosphora's Japanese name, Ereka, she may be based off Electra who was a nymph (a female nature spirit from Greek mythology) and one of the seven Pleiades.
    • This could also possibly mean Phosphora is a nymph herself.
  • The vine around her body may be a symbol of her affiliation with the Forces of Nature.
