Affiliation(s): Palutena (possibly)
Enemy Type: Grounded

The Minotaur is a fierce boss enemy encountered in the Underworld Fortress. The Minotaur's primary attack is to launch several salvos of high-arcing skulls. Then, he becomes a fireball that roams around the arena, only to coalesce and resume his attack one of the many platforms. Simply getting close enough to cause damage without receiving damage in return is tough. Having the Sacred Bow makes this fight easier, but it's difficult both obtain and maintain it at this point.

In Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters

The Minotaur appears in this game as the first boss. It is also one of the three guardians that Palutena assigned to protect the Sacred Treasures and keep them safe from Orcos. The Minotaur is one of the tougher bosses due to his movements being rather unpredictable. He also has a nasty habit of disappearing as a fireball and reappearing unexpectedly on a completely different platform.

Manual Description

A bull-like monster that is half bull and half human.

The Minotaur as it appears in-game.

Trivia

  • The Minotaur is based off of the mythological creature of the same name. Its origin can also be connected to that of Pit, who is based off of Icarus. His father Daedalus had helped to design and build a labyrinth to house the Minotaur, as ordered by King Minos of Crete.
  • Despite the Minotaur's villainous portrayal in the actual myth and its role as a boss, the prologue in the manual states that Palutena herself entrusted the beast to protect one of the Three Sacred Treasures, likely meaning the creature is not necessarily evil nor on Orcos' side, and possibly even affiliated with the goddess of light. The same also may apply to the Fire Serpent and Skullwing.
