'Glad you came Pit. Here, take this!

—Zeus, when he gives Pit an Arrow of Strength in Kid Icarus.

Zeus, known in Japan as Lord God (神様 Kami-sama), is a god whose role in Pit's quest is to prepare him for the trials ahead. As such, he can be encountered in the Sacred Training Chamber, flinging Monoliths and handing out weapons, or waiting patiently in the Sacred Chamber to grant an Arrow of Strength.

In Kid Icarus, Zeus is merely referred to as "a friendly god" in this game, and will train Pit in the Sacred Training Chambers. If he passes, Pit will get to choose either the Sacred Bow, the Fire Arrow, or the Protective Crystal. However, Zeus will insult Pit as being a "weakling" if he flees.

Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters

Zeus returns in Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, this time explicitly referred to as such. While Zeus mainly fulfills the same role from in the previous game, Zeus will simply say, "You must try harder Pit." if Pit leaves the training ground prematurely.

Manual Description

The judge of Pit's training while his mission is underway. The more successful the training, the greater Zeus will reward him.

Kid Icarus: Uprising

Zeus is not mentioned or shown in Kid Icarus: Uprising. However, the Idol description for the Thunder Cloud Temple mentions the existence of a thunder god, possibly a reference to Zeus.

Trivia

  • Zeus is the king of the Olympian gods in Greek mythology. He's much less lecherous here, and not nearly so much a central figure in the Kid Icarus games as he is in mythology.
    • This is likely due to that he is not actually based on Zeus as his Japanese name proves. His true name is Kami-sama, which translates to as "Lord God". Meaning he is possibly just a generic god.
  • Dyntos, a new god in Kid Icarus: Uprising has a similar role and appearance to Zeus, and it is possible that Dyntos is based or is a new take on the character or that they are one and the same.
  • Despite not being an angel, Zeus is shown with a halo and a pair of wings in the official art from Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters.
