I've noticed that we've had to block almost 1,000 spambots since they started appearing a few months ago and they pop up too quickly for them to be blocked at this point; I've never seen anything like it before on any of the wikis I've used- it has to be some kind of coordinated attack. Although this may sound drastic, I suggest that we disable user registration until the spambots are eliminated for good; otherwise we'll eventually be overwhelmed by them completely. At the very least, we ought to require email confirmation for new users along with the autoconfirmation system suggested by JORDAN DEBONO.
