Project Sora (プロジェクトソラ株式会社, "Sora" () is a Japanese word meaning "sky") is a defunct subsidiary of the Japanese company, Nintendo. The company is more specifically a subsidiary of Sora Ltd.; which was founded by former HAL Laboratory employee Masahiro Sakurai of Sora Ltd. among other companies are notable for developing Super Smash Bros. Brawl; a video game which Masahiro Sakurai directed. Project Sora was formed in 2009 by Satoru Iwata and Masahiro Sakurai after the success of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The company was mostly owned by Nintendo, while Sakurai's own Sora Ltd. and third party companies made up 28% of the rest of the ownership.
