The Human Army engaged in a war against the Underworld Army.

The Human Army is a fourth army that is fully revealed in Kid Icarus: Uprising. While not considered to be with the top three armies (Underworld Army, Forces of Nature and the Aurum Fleet), this group still plays a massive role in the success and failure throughout the game's plot. A notable member of the humans is Magnus, a superhuman mercenary swordsman who fights solo with no actual affiliations. Apart from him, only Gaol and the young girl playable in Chapter 18 are introduced. However, the Fighters could also be possible humans, but their status of being so has yet to be confirmed.

Appearances

Kid Icarus: Uprising

The Humans are first witnessed in Chapter 1, where Pit describes them cheering for the return of the goddess of light, Palutena. This is seen at the last moments of the air battle, where the angel briefly flies over the city, known as That First Town.

The Human Army is next seen in Chapter 11, where they are revealed to have fallen for Hades' lie of the Wish Seed. Whole nations are witnessed throwing rocks and fireballs at each other, all coupled with ear-busting yelling. Pit himself describes this horrid scene by saying," It's like they've lost their humanity and all they have left is... brutality!" It is unknown if Magnus fought in this war. After all this occurs, Viridi makes her debut by throwing a nasty Reset Bomb on the soldiers. The aftermath left only the strongest and luckiest of men alive. The few survivors can be freed by Pit on the Land Battle that followed. This is the only time humans are seen up close (excluding Magnus). They appear to wear traditional Greek armour. Once freed from the vines that hold them, they (mysteriously) teleport, leaving behind them an item usable by Pit.

Later on, in Chapter 18, Magnus mentions the human army by saying they now have to fight both the Underworld and Palutena's Centurions. The girl mentioned above also debuts here, being the first character Pit controls in his Ring of Chaos. Unlike Magnus, she has no voice actor, further proving her minority in the game. Having said so, she might also be the girl Hades mentions in Chapter 10, the very one who had her parents killed by the cruel god himself.

The final appearance of the Human Army is in the final chapter of the game. They are briefly seen once Pit defeats Hades thanks to the Great Sacred Treasure. Unlike their first appearance, they are now seen rejoicing over the angel's victory and the Underworld's loss.

Role

While having a minor role at first glance, it is revealed that the humans themselves are the very source of the Underworld's continuous supply of troops. This spoiler alert, as Hades puts it, is unraveled by Palutena, Dark Pit and Viridi in Chapter 22. With the increase of deaths, the souls lost are used by the god of the Underworld to create more infernal soldiers. The abundance of souls is so vast that Hades doesn't even use them all, sending the weak ones as lunch for the Soul-Eating Monster and the strong ones rewarded with peace after death, an honour now very rare to receive. To increase the deaths, Hades purposely spread the myth of the Wish Seed, knowing the humans would go to war for it. This act was only the beginning of the Underworld Army's over-populating numbers.

Trivia

  • Since the humans appear to wear Greek amour, it could very well conclude the location of Angel Land, in Greece.
