Skuttler
Skuttlers are
odd, lumbering creatures that like to attack in groups. Not much else is known about these monsters, aside from there being multiple variations of them. One version has a red eye and is only capable of melee attacks, while the second version has a green eye and carries a powerful laser cannon on its shoulder, allowing it to attack Pit from a distance
Appearances
Kid Icarus: Uprising
Skuttlers are new enemies introduced in this adventure. Based on footage from E3, they are believed to be the minions of Dark Lord Gaol and are abundant in Magnus and the Dark Lord, but have also been seen in The Return of Palutena. They are also among the first enemies revealed to have multiple variations of their physical appearance as well as their attack strategy.
Characteristics
Skuttlers are extremely violent creatures that prefer to roam the dreary halls of Gaol's Castle. Although there are two variants of this monster, both share many similar characteristics, including a dark purple skin tone and a large white head with cross-bones printed on it.
Normal Skuttler
This class of Skuttler is quick on its feet and carries a bone club to attack with. They are among the fastest ground-based enemies that Pit will encounter, and will not hesitate to sprint after him once he's been spotted. This variant is discernible by its single red eye with a small pupil.
Cannon Skuttler
This Skuttler prefers to attack from a distance, and carries a large cannon over its right shoulder. Although this variety of Skuttler can't run fast like its red-eyed cousins, it actually has tremendous jumping ability. The cannons that they carry can launch both fast-moving lasers and slower-moving missiles that can home in on enemies. Due to the heavy weight of these weapons, this version of Skuttler can potentially lose its balance if attacked in quick succession. This variant is discernible by its single green eye with a cross-shaped pupil.
Trivia
- Skuttlers are likely named after the members of scuttling gangs that formed during the late 1900s. The fact that these creatures are among the few that can attack with a melee weapon, as well as the symbolic cross-bones on their heads further prove their similarity to skuttler groups.
