Monoeyes (モノアイ Monoai) are among the Underworld's basic flying soldiers that often attack in groups. They are some of the most recognizable enemies in the series. Monoeyes are physically similar to Miks, except they have a large eye instead of a mouth. Miks are also said to be relatives. Even though Monoeyes are described as a "ghostly plasma", the Ganewmede is a skeletal version of this monster.
Characteristics
The Monoeye is one of three enemies based on an exaggerated facial feature, the others being Mik and Specknose. As its name implies, this creature is well-known for its massive single eye. This monster also has numerous tentacles that help it to fly through the air quickly and efficiently. Like many Underworld enemies in Kid Icarus: Uprising, the Monoeye can shoot plasma energy from its eye as a projectile attack. When using this ability, its normally blue or red iris will glow bright orange. Its tentacles are also said to be able to drain life force, but it is never actually shown doing so.
Appearances
Kid Icarus
In Kid Icarus, Monoeyes are large eyeball-shaped creatures with short tentacles who fly in formations of four and are only found in the Underworld. They are weak aerial monsters with a minimum threat level, but can pass through walls, making navigation difficult. Even though the manual description says Pit will become paralyzed upon contact with a Monoeye, he will not be.
Manual Description
A one-eyed ghostly plasma. It flies through the air past Pit in groups. If one of them touches Pit, then Pit becomes paralyzed and some of his strength is absorbed.

Kid Icarus: Uprising
Monoeyes return as the most common enemies during Kid Icarus: Uprising, and appear in almost all chapters of the story. They were among the very first monsters revealed in the original trailer, and are now capable of launching projectile attacks. Two Monoeyes also form part of the Monomiknose.
Slightly redesigned for Uprising, the rank-and-file air based troop of the Underworld now fires two types of projectiles- three small rocks which don't do much damage but are fairly quick, and a purple energy ball that does more damage but is easier to evade. A Monoeye's iris briefly turns orange before it attacks, giving Pit the opportunity to anticipate the attack if he watches carefully.
Aurum Monoeyes (オーラムモノアイ Ōramu Monoai) are fairly uncommon enemies, first found during the air battle of The Aurum Hive. They are one of the few monsters to be copied by the Aurum and act identically to their Underworld counterparts.
Cellular Monoeyes (モ細胞 Mo Saibou) are rare enemies, found only during the land battles of Lord of the Underworld and The Three Trials. They take on the same attack strategies as their regular counterparts.
Idol Descriptions
Monoeye
A Monoeye is a surveillance drone in the Underworld Army. Though it is capable of draining life from its target with its tentacles, a lowly Monoeye will never do so on prey like Pit. He's just too divine to touch!'
Aurum Monoeye
An Aurum copy of the Underworld's Monoeye. The Aurum Monoeye has the characteristics of the original, so it's really not that strong. Simple creatures are relatively easy to copy at low cost, so this enemy was obviously first in line.
Cellular Monoeye
This cellular version of the Underworld Monoeye guards Hades's belly from intruders. When not on alert, they plant their tentacles into a wall or ceiling, dangling there and sleeping like the cutest thing you ever did see.
Other Appearances
NES Remix 2
Monoeyes appear as enemies in the Kid Icarus challenge of NES Remix 2.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Monoeyes appear in exclusive mode, Smash Run, as common enemies. It also appears as a trophy.
Trophy Description
These one-eyed monsters are members of the Underworld Army in the Kid Icarus series. In Smash Run, these scouts will usually attack alone and chase fighters. If their eye starts to glow red, they're preparing to fire a projectile. They're really weak, though, so you should have no trouble.

Trivia
- In Super Smash Bros. Brawl there's a similar-looking enemy called the Feyesh. They resemble an orange fish with one big eye and tentacles. Perhaps in reference to the Monoeye, Feyesh first appear in the Sea of Clouds level, which is located near and can be considered part of the World of Trophies's Skyworld, which is based on the Kid Icarus world of the same name and is where players first take control of Pit.
