  • Kid Icarus: Uprising

The Chariot Master (戦車の主 Sensha no Omo) is a character introduced in Kid Icarus: Uprising that only appears during The Lightning Chariot. He is a legendary and powerful warrior that lives in a very tall tower located high in the night sky. As his name suggests, the Chariot Master is the owner of the Lightning Chariot, which is pulled by his two precious steeds, Phos and Lux.

Characteristics

Appearance

The Chariot Master is a human-like figure covered in a ghostly blue fire and an indistinguishable face. The blue fire that surrounds his body is actually his own burning soul due to his great valor as a soldier. He wears tattered pieces of armor including a helmet with broken horns, a shoulder plate, tunic, boots, and gloves. He also appears to have surprisingly long blonde hair.

Personality

The Chariot Master is a no-nonsense warrior of great honor and bravery. This has allowed his soul to keep burning even though his actual physical body decayed long ago. The Chariot Master seems to have little patience for most people that enter his tower, especially if they intrude rudely. However, if the warrior sees someone worthy to fight against, he will gladly accept the challenge.

In his past life, he was fiercely loyal to his master and comrades of war. He claims that nothing has been a bigger loss in his life than losing his superior.

In Kid Icarus: Uprising

Pit first meets the warrior at his tower in Chapter 19, but the angel is initially regarded as a simple intruder. However, as he makes his way up the dangerous tower, the Chariot Master begins to recognize him as a worthy opponent and eventually challenges him to a battle by splitting the Lightning Chariot in half. They proceed to both race across a track in the separate carriages, while the warrior himself uses electricity and a sword to fight with. During this time, it is revealed that the Chariot Master understands Pit's desire to rescue Palutena as he once served a master as well. After years of battle, he had found himself alone after losing his companions and master in war, with only his steeds to keep him company. A truly honorable warrior, the Chariot Master will give the Lightning Chariot to Pit when defeated, and tells him to take good care of Phos and Lux and the future of the realm as he peacefully passes away.

Idol Description

Master of the Lightning Chariot. Long ago, he fought in wars of the gods. His body may be ruined, but by walking the soldier's path in death, the master's soul still burns. He fights Pit to determine if the angel is worthy of the chariot.

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS

The Chariot Master appears as one of the numerous collectable trophies in Super Smash Bros. Nintendo 3DS.

Trophy Description

A legendary and powerful soldier, he controls the Lightning Chariot. Normally the eyes are the windows to the soul, but the Chariot Master's actual body is long gone, and his eyes burn like the rest of his warrior spirit. He will surrender the Lighting Chariot to a worthy foe.
