Vaklooms (バキューマ, Bakyuma) are new enemies introduced in Kid Icarus: Uprising.
Characteristics
A Vakloom looks like a flying brownish shell with a rather volcanic complexion. It has two arms, a large club-like tail, and what appears to be a small eye within the opening of its shell. However, its actual body is quite grotesque and will only pop out of its shell when it is preparing to attack. The inner creature resembles a fleshy leech with small crystals lining its body. It also has a large mouth that can stretch wide open, giving it a truly disturbing appearance. Vaklooms prove to be very powerful Underworld troops, and are said to contain miniature black holes within their shells. This allows them to absorb any projectile attacks that come their way, and can also use the energy they obtain to fire dangerous lasers from their mouths as their primary method of attack. However, their greatest strength can also be their greatest weakness, as using this attack makes their own soft body open to a counterattack from Pit as they must pause for a short time before withdrawing back into its shell.
In Kid Icarus: Uprising
Vaklooms are uncommon enemies found in both land and air battles, first encountered during the air battle of Chapter 6: Dark Pit.
Idol Description
Vakloom absorbs all ranged attacks with the black hole in the center of its body. It then converts that absorbed energy into a massive laser blast that it uses to return fire. A slow creature, Vakloom is best taken down with melee attacks.
Trivia
- The name Vakloom is likely a play on the word "vacuum", since it has the ability to suck up and absorb attacks within its shell.
