Phils (フィル Firu), originally called EelEyes, are recurring enemies in the Kid Icarus series that are always found together with Collins.

Characteristics

EelEyes are red parasitic creatures that live within the bodies of Collins. These monsters have a habit of swarming around their host when a potential threat is approaching. They have small, worm-like tails topped with a huge eye, hence their name. EelEyes each also have two feathers that they use to fly, usually in a horizontal hovering pattern. Due to is small size, it can potentially burrow into its victims as a way of attacking.

Appearances

Kid Icarus

Eeleyes are always found flying horizontally around Collins and are thus only found in the Skyworld. They don't actively attack and are pathetically weak. If Pit defeats Collin first and collects the remaining Heart (or after the heart disappears), all of the Phils will vanish, too. This is one of the few enemies that do not give experience points.

Manual Description

The poisonous worm that lives in Collin's body. In spite of its puny body it has a huge eye and two feathers. Body checks are its special way of attacking.

Kid Icarus: Uprising

EelEyes return, once again accompanying Collins. Oddly, they are now called by their Japanese name, Phils. They are not separate enemies per se, but are ammunition for the Collin. Collins can only be defeated by using melee attacks to reflect the Phils it fires back at it.

Trivia

  • In Japan, EelEyes were apparently known as Phils. Due to them accompanying the Collins in battle, their names supposedly serve as a random yet underlying reference to Phil Collins, a famous singer.
