The Shrip (ザキ Zaki) is a flying, bug-like enemy introduced in Kid Icarus: Uprising. It is notable for its long beak that resembles a sharp blade, which it uses to attack with.
Characteristics
Shrips are armored insect-like monsters, being mostly black in color with small red and orange wings. They also have glowing, yellow eyes and two small legs that they rarely use. However, its most prominent feature is the long blade extending from its head that it can use as a dangerous weapon. Known for normally being a bit slow, a Shrip's true potential shines when it begins spinning its entire body and blade, effectively making it a sharp flying propeller. This attack allows it to pursue its targets very fast through the air, all the while making the creature's body dangerous to get near. Such an attack also makes the Shrip difficult to avoid, especially when there are a lot of them. Because of this, it is more convenient to try and take these creatures down with ranged attacks rather than risk getting close to its deadly spinning blade.
In Kid Icarus: Uprising
Shrips are semi-common enemies found in both land and air battles. They are first encountered during the air mission of Magnus and the Dark Lord.
Idol Description
Beetles with sharp swords protruding from their heads. Able to unhinge their shoulder joints, Shrips fly through the air, spinning their bladed heads at high speed. Although fierce attackers, all that twirling gives Shrips terrible aim.
Trivia
- The Shrip's name is likely a combination of the words, "shred" and "rip", describing it's method of attack.
