Octos are dangerous flying mollusks of the Underworld. Their body shape resembles that of a Monoeye or Mick, yet they attack much differently from them.
Characteristics
The Octos are creatures that are said to be quite vicious in nature. They resemble octopi that are able to swim through the sky using their numerous tentacles. However, they are often found hopping along the ground rather than flying, with their tentacles also giving them incredible jumping ability. Despite their ferocious nature, Octos do not actually feed on other living creatures to survive. Instead, they live off of the moist clouds and mist in the sky, literally classifying them as aquavores. In addition, they can also combine the water particles they eat with chemicals in their bodies to produce a toxic gas, which the creatures store within pouches in their cheeks. Octos can in turn use the circular shape of their mouths to launch this toxic formula as a loop of smoke to ward off their enemies.
Appearances
Kid Icarus
"An octopus creature that eats on the clouds in the sky to keep alive. Violent and very irritable, it appears suddenly beneath Pit."
These tentacled enemies are commonly encountered in Skyworld. They attack Pit in a similar fashion to the Commyloose, preferring to leap at him from below. Sufficiently powered-up, these monsters provide a good source for Hearts and experience points.

Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters
"An octopus-like enemy that attacks Pit." Octos appear in this game, although their name is now spelled as "Octus", likely due to a translation error.

Kid Icarus: Uprising
Octos have been confirmed by name to be appearing in the game. Its design looks very similar to its prior appearances, but it is now able to attack by spewing a circular loop of smoke that can either be completely avoided or flown through by Pit.
Captain N: The Game Master
An Octos appeared in the episode "Videolympic". Eggplant Wizard was about to obtain one of the Three Sacred Treasures when an Octos attacked him; 'Wizard was able to swim away. This Octos was notably larger compared to its video game counterpart and actually lived underwater rather than in the sky.

Trivia
- Octos may have been loosely inspired by Atmospheric Beasts of cryptozoology, which are said to be animals often resembling jellyfish that live in the the sky amongst the clouds.
