The Three Sacred Treasures (三種の神器 Sanshu no Jingi) are legendary items possessed by Palutena, ruler of Angel Land. In each game, they reside in Sacred Caskets that only appear after defeating each Gatekeeper in a Fortress.
Appearances
Kid Icarus
When Medusa took over Angel Land in Kid Icarus, the Three Sacred Treasures were stolen from Palutena's army and placed into the clutches of the Fortress Gatekeepers. Pit needs the power from these artifacts to defeat Medusa, and thus invades the gloomy labyrinths to reclaim them. The treasures cannot be equipped until Pit has obtained them all.
Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters
Prior to Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters, Palutena stashed the Three Sacred Treasures in Fortresses to avoid the Treasures falling into the wrong hands. However, since Pit's quest is to gain the strength to use the Treasures, these challenges only serve to increase his strength and make him worthy enough to use all of them by the time he reaches the Palace in the Sky.
Here, the Mirror Shield was replaced by the Silver Armor.
Kid Icarus: Uprising
The Three Sacred Treasures return in Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Pit must obtain them in order to defeat Medusa once more. These powerful items were being kept inside the constellations within the Galactic Sea, and as a result, the Space Pirates managed to get a hold of them. In Chapter 8, Pit battles both the extraterrestrial and Underworld Forces to get the Three Sacred Treasures back. After Pit defeats the Galactic Fiend Kraken, he retrieves the artifacts to use them in his fight against Medusa in Chapter 9. Pit later attempts to use them against Hades in Chapter 23, but they have little effect and are quickly destroyed. However, Pit and Palutena venture off to meet the creator of the artifacts in Chapter 24 and get him to build the Great Sacred Treasure to use against Hades.
Idol Description
The Arrow of Light, Wings of Pegasus, and the Mirror Shield Pit used to defeat Medusa 25 years ago. While Pit needs for his "first" run through Chapter 9, you can later choose to not equip them by tapping the icon on the chapter banner.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U
In both Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, Pit uses the Three Sacred Treasures as his new Final Smash. He dons the weapons and armor, then begins attacking with a flurry of red-colored arrows combined by green-colored arrows, then a large homing arrow, and then finally finishes off with a hail of arrows that rain down as pillars of light across the stage, somewhat resembling the Bow's special attack from Kid Icarus: Uprising.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Three Sacred Treasures is changed to the Lightning Chariot, but the artifacts still appear as a spirit.
Trophy Description
The powerful treasures used to defeat Medusa, the Three Sacred Treasures include the Arrow of Light, Wings of Pegasus, and Mirror Shield. That reminds me of a bit of trivia: there are in real life Three Sacred Treasures in Japan, but they are a sword, a mirror, and a jewel.

Trivia
- The Three Sacred Treasures appear to be named and partially inspired after the legendary Japanese artifacts of the same name. This is acknowledged in the trophy description from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
- The Three Sacred Treasures may also take inspiration from the gifts given to the Greek demigod Perseus by the gods. These include the helmet of invisibility (given by Hades), the winged sandals (given by Hermes), and the polished bronze shield and sword (given by Athena) which were the three artifacts given to the Greek hero to slay Medusa.
