The Bow, known in Japan as God Bow (神弓 Shinkyū), is Pit's primary weapon in the Kid Icarus series. It is often seen with Pit in his various adventures.
Appearances
Kid Icarus
The Bow has a relatively short range when Pit starts out. Collecting the Sacred Bow extends this range to line of sight, and the Fire Arrows will increase the damage. This is Pit's main weapon, and fires quite fast. Pit carries an unlimited supply of arrows, and can be aimed vertically or horizontally. Earning Arrows of Strength will increase the overall power of this weapon. Pit can only have one arrow in flight at a time, even with the powerful Arrow of Light.
Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters
Pit's Bow functions virtually the same as in the previous adventure, along with the same type of weapons.
Kid Icarus: Uprising
The Bow returns as one of the basic weapons that Pit can use in battle. One of the versions resembles the traditional design from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, while the others have completely new designs. It fires charged and rapid fire arrows that function most effectively at medium-long ranges. This weapon has a strong homing property like the Palm, making it useful for taking out quickly moving enemies from a safe distance. In melee range, Pit splits the Bow into two smaller blades in the same way as he did in Super Smash Bros. Brawl; however, they do not inflict much melee damage compared to other weapon types. Bows also have slow continuous fire on the ground, as Pit can only fire three arrows at a time when he's still and then he won't be able to fire more for a second unless he performs a side dash attack. Dash attacks are different for bows, as dash melee attacks have Pit split them into blades and deal multiple hits, while dash shots only fire a single projectile instead of three like other weapon types, but with decent damage. For the Bow's special attack, Pit will aim upwards and fire multiple arrows that fall down as a rain of arrows.
Variations
The different types of bows are as follows:

---|---|---|
The basic bow as pictured above. It is a well-balanced weapon that fires arrows that slightly increase in power at longer distances. | ||
A prototype bow designed by Palutena and the favored weapon of Dark Pit. Unlike most bows, its projectiles are strongest at close ranges and lose power at long distances. However, its range and homing ability are above average, making it useful in any situation. | ||
A futuristic-looking bow that harnesses the power of comets. The Meteor Bow's dash shots fire heat-seeking, triple arrows that are nearly impossible to avoid for opponents. It's charged shot is an exceptionally strong projectile with the power of a meteor strike, although it has very little homing ability. This variation also has the longest range of any other bow. | ||
A bow made from the wood of a sacred tree. Its fearsome energy is kept in check by the bow's many seals. Its charged shots have a strong potential of nullifying enemy fire. It also charges quickly and has a high homing ability. | ||
A bow with a dark color scheme and neon lights. Although both its projectile and melee attacks are highly effective, it suffers from a short range, poor homing ability, and long charge time. | ||
A variant that fires crystal gem projectiles; large blue ones as charged shots, and medium yellow ones for rapid fire. Its high overall attack power is offset by its extremely short range. | ||
A gold bow with various heart designs, similar to the one used by the god of love. Its projectiles have better homing capabilities than most bows, but they travel slowly and inflict little damage. | ||
A bow with a design that resembles the head of a bird of prey, complete with eyes, a beak, and feathers. It has high-speed shots, long range, a high chance at nullifying enemy fire, but lacks melee capabilities and charges slowly. | ||
One of the Zodiac Weapons, this bow is inspired by the ninth astrological sign in the Zodiac. Its shots have a piercing effect that let them hit multiple foes at once. Although its charge time is rather long, its shots travel quickly and deal a decent amount of damage. It can be found in Chapter 2, where it is hidden behind a tapestry in the hallway leading to the outer courtyard. | ||
A bow created using Aurum technology. Rare among bows, its continuous-fire dash attack unleashes a barrage of multiple shots. Though it has good range and great homing ability, its low attack power makes it better at a distance. | ||
Palutena Bow, also known as Sacred Bow of Palutena |
Pit's signature weapon, this is the bow seen in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the box art of Kid Icarus: Uprising that is equipped with two light rings that produce the arrows. Although its standing continuous fire doesn't do much damage, its dash shots are a force to be reckoned with. | |
A bow crafted from Phosphora's scarf. Its charged shots have great homing ability and speed but its rapid-fire shots have no homing capabilities. While the bow overall lacks power, its shots have a chance to paralyze enemies, and grants a speed bonus. |
In Super Smash Bros. Series
Like in the Kid Icarus games, Pit uses the bow as his primary weapon in the Super Smash Bros. games. The Palutena Bow specifically is the one he uses, first seen in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, where it established as the angel's signature weapon. This is also where the bow gained the ability to split into two smaller blades for easier close combat.
