The Pit amiibo was released on December 14, 2014 in North America, and on December 19, 2014 in Europe. amiibo of Palutena and Dark Pit were released on June 26, 2015 for Europe. Both Palutena and Dark Pit released on July 4, 2015 in Australia. In North America, Palutena released on July 27, 2015 as an Amazon exclusive, and Dark Pit released on July 31, 2015 as a Best Buy exclusive.

Trivia
*Pit and Dark Pit's dodging sound effects are the same as heard in Kid Icarus: Uprising.
*Pit has a new victory pose that references the V-sign he makes after he defeats Hades in Uprising.
*Pit occasionally says, "I'm finished..." when he gets KO'd, just like he does in Uprising, which in turn is a reference to the Game Over screen from the original Kid Icarus. Dark Pit himself also occasionally says "It's not over...!" when getting KO'd, which is a reference to Chapter 6 of Uprising, when he claims to Pit that, "This isn't over yet!" upon being defeated.
*Oddly, Dark Pit lacks a "NEWCOMER" tag on his page on the official website.
*Palutena and Dark Pit have unique victory lines when winning against each other:
**Palutena against Pit: "Oh, so sorry about that Pit."
**Palutena against Dark Pit: "Poor little Pittoo."
**Dark Pit against Pit: "Where's your goddess now!?"
*The voice director of Kid Icarus: Uprising, Ginny McSwain, returned to work with the Kid Icarus characters. Despite this, only two of the original cast members returned to voice their characters, those being Antony Del Rio and Hynden Walch, voice actors for Pit/Dark Pit and Viridi respectively. Ginny McSwain, Antony Del Rio, and Hynden Walch were also all uncredited.

A 3DS-exclusive stage inspired by Kid Icarus: Uprising has also been revealed. Although its name is currently unknown, this stage is based on the setting of Chapter 11 of the game, Viridi, Goddess of Nature. It depicts the war between humans over the Wish Seed, with players fighting atop the ruins of a castle. At some point, a Reset Bomb will drop from the heavens, completely changing the landscape into the Reset Bomb Forest. It's currently unknown if the structure of the stage itself will be impacted by this change.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, (Japanese: 大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ, Dairantō Sumasshu Burazāzu fō Nintendō Surī Dī Esu / Wī Yū ), otherwise unofficially known as Super Smash Bros. 4, are the fourth and fifth installments in the Super Smash Bros. series. It is the first game of the series to appear on two platforms. The game was developed by Sora Ltd. in collaboration with Namco Bandai Games and published by Nintendo. Although both games feature identical character rosters and basic modes of play, there are notable differences between the two versions, including exclusive stages. The 3DS version features stages inspired by handheld games, while the Wii U version has stages based on console titles. Unlike its predecessors, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is more focused on the individualized experience while the Wii U version is primarily multiplayer-focused, as with previous Smash Bros. titles.

Playable Characters

Pit: The angel returns as a playable character in this game, with an updated look and moveset based on his appearance in Kid Icarus: Uprising. While Palutena's Arrow remains as his neutral special move, all of his other specials, including his Final Smash, have been changed. Pit now utilizes the Upperdash Arm as his new side special, the Guardian Orbitars as his new down special, and the Power of Flight as his new up special. His Final Smash is now the Three Sacred Treasures.

Palutena: Palutena was revealed in a trailer at E3 2014 as a newly-added playable character. Many of her moves are based off of various powers that appeared in Uprising. Palutena is also one of the few characters to have 12 completely unique specials that can be altered through customization.

Dark Pit: Dark Pit appears as an unlockable newcomer and can be obtained in the 3DS version by playing Classic Mode three times, or playing 50 VS matches. In the Wii U version, he can be unlocked by clearing All-Star Mode on normal difficulty, or playing 40 VS matches. He is a moveset-clone of Pit, but with subtle differences.

Stages

 • Palutena's Temple: A Wii U-exclusive stage based on the goddess of light's home. It is one of the biggest stages in the game. If a human player uses Pit's down taunt quickly in this stage, it will activate Palutena's Guidance.
 • Skyworld: The stage from Brawl returns in the Wii U version.
